How to Disable iPhone 14 Read Receipts (Guide with Pictures)
The steps in this article were performed on an iPhone 14 Plus in the iOS 16.5 operating system.
These steps will work for most other recent versions of iOS, as well as most other iPhone models, including the following:
- iPhone 14
- iPhone 14 Pro
- iPhone 14 Pro Max
Step 1: Find the Settings app icon on your Home screen and tap on it to open the menu.
Step 2: Scroll down and choose the Messages option.
Step 3: Tap the button to the right of Send Read Receipts to turn it off.
You will know that your read receipts are turned off when there is no green shading around the button. I have read receipts turned off in the picture below.
Now that you know how ot turn off read receipts on iPhone 14, you can prevent other people from being able to see that you have read a message that they sent you.
Note that this will not affect your ability to see whether or not other people have read a text message that you sent to them. That is controlled by whether or not that person has read receipts enabled on their device.
