Fortunately, this is something that you can do with the default photos app, so you won’t need to download anything extra or use an additional application.

Friends and family often want to see the pictures that you have on your iPhone.
While you may be perfectly happy to show them those pictures, it’s also possible that you have images on your camera roll that you don’t want them to see.
Rather than deleting those pictures, another option that you have is to hide them.
Luckily this is an option that is available in the default photos app, and electing to hide a picture will move it to a special hidden folder that requires Face ID, or can also be hidden.
How to Put a Picture into the Hidden iPhone Folder
The steps in this article were performed on an iPhone 13 in the iOS 16.4 operating system. These steps will also work on other iPhone 13 models like:
- iPhone 13 Mini
- iPhone 13 Pro
- iPhone 13 Pro Max
As well as most other iPhone models using iOS 16 and newer iOS versions.
Step 1: Open the default Photos app on your iPhone.
Step 2: Select the picture that you would like to hide.
Step 3: Tap the circle with three dots at the top-right corner of the screen.
Step 4: Choose the Hide option from this menu.
Step 5: Tap the Hide Photo button at the bottom of the screen to confirm this action.
Now that you know how to hide a picture on iPhone 13, you will be able to use this method whenever there is a picture on your iPhone that you might not want someone else to see.
Another related setting that you might want to adjust involves the hidden pictures folder.
You can still find a hidden picture if you open the Photos app, select the Albums tab, then scroll down and choose the Hidden option.
But you can also hide this folder by going to Settings > Photos > then turning off the Show Hidden Album option.
If you have hidden a picture accidentally, or if you no longer wish to hide it, then you can unhide a picture on your iPhone 13 in a similar manner to how you hid it initially. Note that you will need to have the Show Hidden Album option enabled so that you can find the hidden image.
Simply go to Photos, select the Albums tab, scroll down, and choose Hidden.
You can then select the hidden picture, tap the three dots at the top-right, then choose the Unhide option.
