How to Delete a Channel on a Roku TV

To delete a channel (app) on a Roku TV, press Home, highlight the channel, press the Star (*) button on your remote, and select Remove app. Confirm when asked. If you don’t see Remove app, the channel probably has an active subscription you need to cancel first.

How to Remove a Channel From a Roku TV

Press Home on your Roku remote.
Move to the right and highlight the channel you want to remove.
Press Star (*) to open the Options menu.
Select Remove app and confirm.

Result: The channel disappears from your Home screen. Roku says these steps work on both Roku TVs and Roku streaming players. On a Roku TV, the same Star menu is also where you rename an HDMI input on a Roku TV. You can add the same channel again later if you change your mind.

Roku also notes that some options aren’t available from Quick Access. If you don’t see what you need, scroll to the Apps section, select the app, and press Star there.

How to Remove a Channel With the Roku Mobile App

Open the Roku app on your phone. If the app is not connected yet, see how to use the Roku remote app on an iPhone.
Select Devices from the navigation bar.
Select the Apps on Roku tab to see the apps installed on your Roku.
Tap and hold the app (a quick tap opens the remote instead).
Tap Remove and confirm.

Result: The app is removed from that Roku device. Roku says apps can’t be removed from Roku.com, so use the TV or the mobile app.

How to Remove a Channel From the Channel Store

A third way: open the channel store from the Home screen menu (sometimes labeled Streaming Channels), find the channel, open its page, select the remove option, and confirm. Installed channels show a checkmark in the store. Menu names may differ on newer Roku software, so the Home screen method is the quickest.

No Remove App Option?

Roku says that if you don’t see Remove app, you might still have an active subscription or be in your current billing cycle. To cancel a subscription you signed up for through Roku:

Highlight the app on the Home screen and press Star (*).
Select Manage subscription to see the renewal date.
Select Turn off auto-renew.
Enter your Roku PIN if you set one for purchases.

Result: Roku says the subscription stays active until the end of the billing cycle, and you can also cancel at my.roku.com/subscriptions. Will removing a channel cancel my subscription?

No. Roku tells you to turn off auto-renew to cancel your subscription before removing the app, and subscriptions auto-renew unless canceled.

Can I reinstall a channel I removed?
