The HBO Max streaming service is HBO’s latest option for watching movies and TV shows. Boasting a massive library of content, it immediately enters the streaming service field as one of the better options.
Like many of the other popular streaming service apps, HBO Max offers the ability to download movies or TV shows directly to your device so that you can watch them later when you may not have a strong Internet connection. Watching downloaded content also has the added benefit of not using any data(aside from the data used to download the file initially, that is.)
Our guide below will show you how to download a movie in the HBO Max app on your iPhone.
How to Download a Movie in the HBO Max iPhone App
The steps in this article were performed on an iPhone 11 in iOS 13.5.1. I am using the most current version of the HBO Max app that was available when this article was written.
You will need to have an active HBO Max subscription to complete these steps. Additionally you will need to have enough free storage space on your iPhone for the movie or TV show that you wish to download.
Step 1: Open the HBO Max app.
Step 2: Find the movie that you want to download.
Step 3: Tap the Download button under the movie.
These downloads can take a while, depending on the length of the movie and your Internet connection speed.
It’s generally a good idea to download movies and TV shows when you’re on a Wi-Fi network. Otherwise, if you are on a cellular network, you could run into data overage charges or you may hit your monthly data cap much more quickly, as these files can he hundreds of megabytes, or even a couple of gigabytes, in size.
