The taskbar at the bottom of your screen in Windows 8 Desktop mode is a convenient way to access some commonly used programs, as well as see what other programs are currently open.
But this taskbar can fill up quickly, so it’s useful to remove unnecessary icons, or icons that you do not use very often. If you have the green App Store icon in your Windows 8 taskbar, but you never use the App Store, then you can follow our short guide below to learn how to remove the App Store icon from your taskbar.
Delete the App Store Icon from the Bottom of the Screen in Windows 8
We will be specifically deleting the App Store icon from the taskbar in the steps below, but you can use these same steps to delete any other icon from your taskbar as well.
Deleting the App Store icon will not delete the App Store. The icon that we are deleting is just a shortcut to the App Store that you would otherwise access from the Start menu.
Step 1: Locate the App Store icon in your taskbar.
Step 2: Right-click the App Store icon in the taskbar, then click the Unpin this program from the taskbar option.
