You cannot reliably hide every Facebook Reel permanently with one built-in setting. To reduce unwanted Reels, open the three-dot menu on a Reel or its Feed post and choose Not interested, Show less, or an available Hide option. These controls affect an item or its recommendations; they do not switch off all Reels. If you are instead trying to get back to a Reel you already saw, see how to find recently watched reels and viewed posts on Facebook.
The useful choice depends on whether you want fewer videos like one you saw, fewer posts from a particular account, or a feed centered on people you follow. Here is what each option can accomplish on the Facebook app or website.
Choose the Control That Matches Your Goal
| Your goal | Useful control | Limit |
|---|---|---|
| Remove an unwanted item | Hide, when offered | Does not remove the entire Reels feature. |
| Reduce similar recommendations | Not interested or Show less | Feedback is not a permanent ban on a topic. |
| Stop following a creator’s posts | Unfollow | Affects their other posts too, not only Reels. |
| Browse connected accounts | Feeds, then Friends or Favorites | Followed accounts can still share videos. |
| Keep your own Reel less public | Change its audience | Does not change what you see in your Feed. |
Hide a Reel or Request Fewer Similar Recommendations
- Open Facebook and find the unwanted Reel in your Feed or the Reels viewer.
- Select the three-dot menu associated with that item. Its position varies between the Feed card and full-screen player.
- Choose Not interested or Show less if offered. If the menu instead offers Hide or Hide post, use that to dismiss the item.
- Read the confirmation. If an Undo option appears and you selected the wrong item, use it immediately.

On a computer, use the same item menu on facebook.com. On iPhone or Android, use the menu in the Facebook app. Do not look for a universal “Hide all Reels” switch in Feed preferences: Facebook’s documented controls personalize what appears rather than remove every video.
Meta’s Feed-control announcement was updated in March 2025 to say that Show more and Show less became Interested and Not interested. Labels may still vary by surface or account. Choose the option actually displayed; if none is available, use the account or feed controls below.
Unfollow an Account That Keeps Posting Reels
- Find a Feed post from the person or Page.
- Open its three-dot menu.
- Select Unfollow followed by the account’s name, if available. Otherwise, open the account’s profile and look for its following controls.
Unfollowing is broader than hiding one Reel: you stop following that account’s posts in your Feed. It does not remove every Reel from Facebook. You can follow the account again if you change your mind. Facebook’s Feed controls help page explains the difference between hiding a story, unfollowing, and recommendation feedback.
Use Feeds Instead of Browsing Home Recommendations
- In the app, open Menu and look for Feeds, expanding the menu if needed. On a computer, look in the left menu.
- Choose Friends or Favorites when those filters are available.
- Return to this view when you want posts from connected accounts rather than browsing the Reels tab.
Meta describes Feeds as a view of connected people, Pages, and groups, separate from Home’s discovery recommendations. It is not a text-only view: those accounts can still post Reels, and ads may appear. For broader changes, see how to refresh your Facebook feed.
Why Do Reels Keep Coming Back?
Hiding an item and giving recommendation feedback are different from disabling a content format. New videos can still appear from other accounts. A menu option that disappears may reflect a different viewing surface or account layout; it does not mean you missed a permanent-off setting.
Turning off video autoplay also does not hide the video cards. Playback controls and Feed visibility are separate. Likewise, removing a Reels shortcut from navigation, if your account allows it, does not remove Reels posted in your Feed.
What About Reels You Posted Yourself?
The steps above change what you see. To control who sees a Reel you created, use its audience settings instead. Facebook explains the choices in its default Reel audience guide. Changing an audience does not suppress other people’s Reels in your Feed.
