You can print over Bluetooth from an iPhone only when the printer and its supported iPhone app provide that connection. Pairing a printer does not make it appear in the standard AirPrint menu. This guide explains how to check compatibility, then gives a documented Brother label-printer example. Other portable, photo or label printers may use different apps and connection steps. Check the Printer and App Before Pairing
Find the printer’s model name and confirm that the manufacturer specifically supports iPhone or iOS printing over Bluetooth. A Bluetooth logo or matching Bluetooth version alone does not establish this. Also confirm the required app supports your iPhone’s iOS version and the material you want to print.
A label-printing app is not automatically a route for printing a multipage PDF, email or web page. Decide whether you need a label, photo, receipt or document before buying an accessory or repeatedly trying to pair devices. Download the app recommended for your exact printer from the App Store.

Brother documents Bluetooth printing with iPrint&Label for these models. This example is for labels; the button sequence and default PIN below belong to these printers. Follow a different model’s own manual. The Brother Bluetooth connection procedure explicitly states that AirPrint cannot use this Bluetooth connection.
- Turn on the printer and press its Bluetooth button.
- On the iPhone, open Settings > Bluetooth and turn Bluetooth on.
- Select the printer’s model name. Enter its PIN if requested. For these models, Brother says the default is the last four digits of the printer’s serial number, found inside the DK Roll compartment. A changed PIN requires the configured value.
- Install and open Brother iPrint&Label from the App Store. Read its usage information and follow its initial setup prompts.
- Select the printer model. In the documented setup, tap the gear icon for Printer Settings, then Printer. Under Bluetooth, tap Search your printer and select yours.
- Return to Settings in the app, choose Check Media to set the label type and size, then tap Done. Create or select a label and print it from this app.
Brother’s iPhone app setup instructions show the printer-selection and media controls. App versions can change the layout. Its current iPrint&Label page describes supported Bluetooth or Wi-Fi label printing and links to the App Store.
If the Printer Is Missing or Will Not Print
First check the failed stage: is the printer absent from iPhone Bluetooth settings, or paired there but missing inside its app? The second case needs app and printer-selection checks, rather than the standard Share > Print menu.
Keep the printer powered on and nearby, check its documented connection mode, and reopen the supported app. Brother advises moving closer and reconnecting in iPhone Bluetooth settings when these models lose their connection. Do not use a guessed universal PIN or another model’s button sequence.
If the app requested Bluetooth access and you declined, review Settings > Privacy & Security > Bluetooth. Allow access for the trusted printer app if you want it to communicate with the printer. Apple explains Bluetooth app permissions; pairing and app permission are separate checks.
If the app sees the printer but the job fails, check the selected model, supported file or label type, loaded media and the exact error. Ask the manufacturer about unsupported iOS versions or app features. A successful pairing message alone is not proof that the chosen job can print.

Why is my paired printer absent from AirPrint?
AirPrint discovers supported printers over a network, not through ordinary Bluetooth pairing. Apple’s AirPrint guidance explains its connection requirements. Use the manufacturer’s supported Bluetooth app or configure a supported AirPrint network connection.
Can I print from any iPhone app over Bluetooth?
No. Use the app and content types the printer maker supports. A Bluetooth label app does not guarantee a printer destination in Photos, Mail or Safari’s normal Print menu.
Can I print in color?
Only if both the printer and supported workflow provide it. Bluetooth connectivity does not determine whether a label or photo printer can produce color output.
