How to Find Your Facebook ID

Your Facebook ID is either your username (the name in your profile link, like facebook.com/janedoe3) or your user ID, a string of numbers that every account gets automatically. The quickest way to see yours is to sign in to Facebook in a web browser, open your own profile, and read the address bar. If an app or game developer asked for your ID, use the Apps and Websites setting instead, because that is where Facebook shows the user ID for each connected app.

This guide follows Facebook’s Help Center instructions as they read in October 2026. Facebook changes its menus often, so a label on your screen may differ slightly from the ones below.

Which Facebook ID do you need?

People use “Facebook ID” for four different things. Work out which one you were asked for before you start, because each one lives in a different place.

Facebook describes the first two in How usernames and user IDs are used on Facebook profiles:

• Username: the web address for your profile or Page. It is used on both Facebook and Messenger, it is often a version of your name, and you can change it.
• User ID: a string of numbers that connects to your profile and to specific chats on Messenger. You have one whether or not you ever create a username.

What you need first

• Your own Facebook account, signed in. These steps are for finding your own ID, or the ID of a Page you manage.
• A web browser on a computer for the address bar method. The Facebook app does not show an address bar.
• For an app or game ID, the app or game must already be connected to your Facebook account.

Find your username or ID in a browser

This is the shortest route, and it is the one Facebook gives in Find or change your username on Facebook.

1. Go to facebook.com and sign in.
2. Click your profile picture and name to open your own profile. Facebook’s instructions place it in the top left of the home page.
3. Look at the address bar at the top of the browser. After facebook.com/ you will see your username, for example facebook.com/janedoe3.
4. If you never chose a username, the link usually reads facebook.com/profile.php?id= followed by a long number. That number is the ID for your profile.
5. Click the address bar, select the part you need, and copy it.

If the address bar shows something else, such as a link to your feed, you are not on your profile yet. Click your name again and wait for the profile to load.

Find your username in settings

You can also read your username from your account settings. This is useful in the Facebook app, where there is no address bar.

Warning: the same screen lets you change your username. Facebook says you may not be able to get your original username back after you change it, and a change also changes your profile link and your Messenger link. If you only want to look, do not type anything in the field.

On a computer

1. Click your profile picture in the top right of Facebook.
2. Select Settings & privacy, then click Settings.
3. Click Accounts Center, then click Profiles.
4. Select your Facebook profile, then click Username. Your current username appears in the field.
5. Leave the screen without clicking Done if you do not want to change anything.

In the Facebook app for iPhone or Android

1. Tap Menu. Facebook’s current instructions place it in the top left of the app, but its position varies by app version.
2. Tap Settings & privacy, then tap Settings.
3. Open Accounts Center, then tap Profiles and personal details. Some versions show Profiles instead.
4. Choose your profile, then tap Username.

Facebook is gradually moving people to Meta Accounts, so you may see Meta Account settings where these steps say Accounts Center. The username setting is in the same place either way.

The app can also copy your profile link. Open your profile, tap the three dots (…), and look for your profile link with a Copy link option. Facebook’s Help Center does not list these steps, so the layout may differ on your phone.

Find the user ID an app or game needs

When you contact the developer of an app or game, they may ask for your user ID so they can look into your problem. Facebook’s Find your user ID for your apps and games page gives a separate route for this.

On a computer

1. Click your profile picture in the top right of Facebook.
2. Select Settings & privacy, then click Settings.
3. Click Apps and Websites in the left side menu, under Your activity.
4. Click View and Edit next to the app or game.
5. Scroll to the bottom of the page. Your user ID is shown there and can be copied.

In the Facebook app

1. Tap Menu.
2. Scroll down and tap Settings & privacy, then tap Settings.
3. Scroll down to the Your activity section and tap Apps and websites.
4. Tap the name of the app.
5. Scroll to the bottom to find and copy your user ID.

The number on this screen belongs to that one app or game, and it may not match the number in your profile link. Give the developer the number from this screen, not the one from your address bar. This screen also holds the controls for the app’s connection to your account, so copy the ID and leave the other options alone unless you mean to change them.

Find the ID of a Facebook Page you manage

A Page has its own ID, separate from your personal one. Facebook’s Find your Facebook Page ID article lists these steps for a computer:

1. Log in to Facebook, then click your profile photo in the top right.
2. Click See all profiles, then select the Page you want to switch into.
3. Click your Page’s name in the left menu to go to it.
4. Click your Page’s name beneath the cover photo.
5. Click Transparency and privacy policy. The Page ID is listed there.

In the app, the route is the same after you switch into the Page: tap Menu, tap your Page’s name, tap the name again beneath the cover photo, then tap Transparency and privacy policy. Check that you copied the right thing

• Username: type facebook.com/ followed by the username into a browser. Facebook says this address opens the profile, so yours should appear.
• App or game user ID: go back to the app’s entry under Apps and Websites and compare the number digit by digit with what you pasted.
• Page ID: confirm you had switched into the correct Page before you opened Transparency and privacy policy.

Looking up an ID changes nothing on your account, so there is nothing to undo. The one exception is the username field. If you saved a new username by accident, return to the same Username setting and try to enter the old one, keeping in mind that Facebook does not promise it will still be available.

Is it safe to share your Facebook ID?

Facebook says a user ID does not personally identify you. It also says that someone who has the ID can see your Facebook profile, including anything you have made public, and the same is true of your username. An ID is not a password and does not sign anyone in.

Troubleshooting

• The app or game is not listed under Apps and Websites. That list only shows apps and games connected to your Facebook account. Check that you are signed in to the same account you use with the app.
• You cannot find Accounts Center. Look for Meta Account settings instead. Facebook is renaming this area as it moves people to Meta Accounts.
• Your profile link shows numbers instead of a name. That is normal for an account without a username. You can pick a username in the Username setting, following Facebook’s rule that usernames contain only letters, numbers, and periods.
• You do not see Transparency and privacy policy. Make sure you switched into the Page first. The steps do not work from your personal profile.
• A menu is in a different corner. Menu placement differs between computers, iPhone, Android, and app versions. Look for the same label names instead of the position.

Frequently asked questions

Is my Facebook ID the same as my username?

Not exactly. Your username is the readable name in your profile link, and you can choose or change it. Your user ID is a number Facebook assigns automatically. Either one can point someone to your profile, so ask which one is wanted if a form just says “Facebook ID”.

Can I change my Facebook user ID?

Facebook’s Help Center gives steps for changing a username, but it does not describe any way to change the numeric user ID. Treat the number as fixed and change your username if you want a different profile link.

Do I need a lookup website to find my ID?

No. Every ID in this guide can be found inside Facebook itself. If you do try an outside lookup tool, never type your Facebook password into it. Finding your own ID does not require signing in anywhere except Facebook.

Is this the ID Facebook asks me to upload?

No. When Facebook asks for “an ID” to confirm who you are, it means an identity document, which is unrelated to your username, user ID, or Page ID.

Does everyone have a user ID?

Yes. Facebook says you have a user ID automatically, whether or not you choose to create a username.
