How to Find Draft Posts on Facebook

Where a Facebook draft lives depends on what you were posting from. For a Facebook Page on a computer, open Meta Business Suite > Content > Drafts. For a Page in the Facebook app on Android, tap the draft notification and then Unpublished draft. For a reel, tap Create > Reel > Drafts in the app. A personal profile has no drafts folder that Facebook documents; the app brings an unfinished post back when you tap What’s on your mind?

Which kind of draft do you have?

A draft is a post you started but have not published. Facebook treats three kinds differently, so start by matching yours to the right row. The routes below reflect Facebook’s Help Center as of October 2026.

A Page is the public presence used by a business, organization, or creator. A profile is your personal account. Meta Business Suite is Meta’s free management tool for Pages, available on the web and as a mobile app.

Find drafts for a Facebook Page on a computer

These steps follow Facebook’s Create posts and save drafts for your Facebook Page help page. You need access to the Page; see the permissions note in the troubleshooting section if a menu is missing.

1. Switch to the Page you want to use.
2. Click the Page’s profile picture in the top right, then click the Page’s name to go to the Page.
3. Click Meta Business Suite in the left menu.
4. Click Content in the left menu.
5. Click Drafts at the top of the page. Your saved drafts are listed here.
6. Select a draft to open it in the post editor.
7. Click Publish to post it, or Finish later to save it as a draft again.

Be sure before you click Publish. Facebook says a post created from your Page on Facebook is always public, and a published post is visible right away. If you only wanted to check the wording, choose Finish later instead.

Meta changes the Business Suite menus from time to time. If you see a Posts & reels entry under Content, open it and look for the Drafts tab there. Older guides mention Publishing tools, a name the current help page no longer uses.

Save a Page post as a draft on a computer

You can only find a draft that was actually saved. On a computer, Facebook says Page drafts can only be saved in Meta Business Suite.

1. Open Meta Business Suite for your Page, using steps 1 to 3 above.
2. Click Create post underneath your Page’s profile picture.
3. Add your text, photos, or video.
4. Click Finish later. The post is saved and appears under Content > Drafts.

To confirm it worked, open Drafts and check that the post is in the list before you close the tab.

Find a Page draft in the Facebook app

The Facebook app keeps only one Page draft at a time, according to the same help page. If you need several drafts, use Meta Business Suite instead.

Android

1. Switch to your Page, tap What’s on your mind? at the top of your Feed, and add your content.
2. Tap Close or Back, then tap Save draft. Facebook sends a notification to your device.
3. To return to it, open your notifications, tap the draft notification, then tap Unpublished draft.
4. Finish the post and publish it, or tap Close or Back to save the draft again.

Because the route back runs through a notification, do not clear it until you have finished the post, and make sure notifications from Facebook are allowed on your phone.

iPhone

1. Switch to your Page and tap What’s on your mind? at the top of your Feed.
2. Add your content, tap the close or back icon, then tap Save draft.
3. To return to the draft, tap What’s on your mind? again from the same Page. The saved text should reappear in the post box.

Facebook also notes that you can manage Page posts in the Meta Business Suite mobile app. Its help page does not list the taps for that app, so look for a drafts filter in the app’s content or posts area.

Drafts on a personal profile

Facebook’s Help Center does not describe a drafts list for personal profiles, on a computer or in the app. Its draft instructions cover Pages and reels only. What follows is the commonly reported behavior, not documented steps, and it may differ on your device or app version.

• In the app: when you back out of an unfinished post, the app may offer to save it as a draft. Choose to save it, then tap What’s on your mind? later to pick it up. On Android you may also get a notification that opens the draft.
• On a computer: the post box may keep your text while you stay on the same page. Leaving, refreshing, or closing the tab usually discards it.
• Across devices: do not expect a draft saved on your phone to show up on your computer.
• Time limit: many users report that app drafts disappear after about three days. Facebook’s help pages do not state a limit for profile posts, so treat any draft as temporary.

For anything you would hate to retype, write it in a notes app first and paste it into Facebook when you are ready. That copy does not depend on a notification or a time limit.

Find reel drafts

A reel is a short video. Reel drafts are separate from post drafts, and Facebook says the feature is not available on computers. The steps come from Facebook’s Resume sharing a saved draft of your reel page.

1. Open the Facebook app. From your Feed, tap Create in the top right.
2. Tap Reel.
3. Tap Drafts, then tap the draft you want to resume.

To save one in the first place, record a clip, start editing, tap More options, tap Save, then select Save as draft, as described in Save a draft of your reel. Facebook removes saved reel drafts after 60 days, so publish or re-create anything you want to keep before then.

If you can’t find your draft

• You are in the wrong account. Page drafts only appear after you switch to that Page. If you manage several Pages, check that Business Suite shows the right one.
• Meta Business Suite is missing from the menu. Go to the Page itself first (step 2 above); the link is in the Page’s left menu, not your personal Feed.
• You do not have permission. Facebook says only people with Facebook access to a Page can create Page posts on Facebook. People with task access and permission to manage content can only create posts from Meta Business Suite. Ask someone with full control of the Page to check your access.
• The draft was never saved. Closing the editor without choosing Finish later or Save draft discards the post.
• It was replaced. The Facebook app holds one Page draft at a time, so saving a new one can take the place of the old one.
• The Android notification is gone. Check the notifications tab inside the Facebook app as well as your phone’s notification shade.
• The reel draft is older than 60 days. Facebook removes it, and no documented recovery option exists.

Frequently asked questions

Is there a drafts folder on Facebook?

Only for Pages and reels. Page drafts are under Content > Drafts in Meta Business Suite, and reel drafts are under Create > Reel > Drafts in the Facebook app. Facebook does not document a drafts folder for posts on a personal profile.

How many drafts can I save?

Facebook says that on a computer you can save multiple Page posts as drafts only in Meta Business Suite, and that the Facebook app saves one Page post as a draft at a time.

How long does Facebook keep drafts?

Facebook states that saved reel drafts are removed after 60 days. It does not publish a time limit for Page post drafts or for unfinished posts on a personal profile, so do not rely on a draft as long-term storage.

Can other people see my drafts?

A draft is not published, so your audience cannot see it. A Page’s drafts sit in the Page’s Business Suite content list, so assume other people who manage that Page’s content can open them.

Can I get back a deleted or expired draft?

Facebook’s help pages do not describe a way to restore a draft that was discarded, replaced, or removed. Keeping your own copy of important text is the only dependable safeguard.

How do I delete a draft I no longer need?

For a Page, open the draft from Content > Drafts in Meta Business Suite and look for the delete option on that draft. The help page covers saving and publishing but does not name the delete control, so its label may vary.
