Adobe Photoshop is the best image editing program available, and is used by a number of different types of people. Whether you are a photographer that is touching up pictures, or a designer creating images for a website, Photoshop has all of the tools that you might need. But if you have your own business, or you have just graduated from school and can no longer get those great student discounts on software, then the cost of the full retail version of Photoshop might be too much for you to afford.
Thankfully Adobe now offers something called the Creative Cloud, which allows you to use their software as a subscription instead of purchasing the program outright. You can purchase the subscription through Amazon, then download the software to your computer and start using it. Photoshop can be installed on two computers, either Windows or Macs (or a combination of the two), and you can use it on either computer, provided that only one computer is used at a time. Photoshop will periodically check online to make sure that you have a valid subscription, and you can continue to use the full version of the program for as long as your subscription is valid.
I think the subscription option is ideal for freelancers or people just starting out that absolutely need to have Adobe Photoshop, but may not have the resources available to acquire it. Then as you build up your client list and start making money from your Photoshop creations, that monthly subscription fee will simply be just another cost of doing business. You will also be able to upgrade to the latest version of Photoshop when it is released, ensuring that you always have the most current version of the software.

Note that it is definitely worthwhile to go with the one-year subscription option if you know that you will be using Photoshop for at least a year. The monthly cost is significantly lower, and the only caveat is that you will get charged a cancellation fee if you end the subscription before the full year is over.
