With this entry into the Windows 8 laptop market, Dell has introduced an affordable option with the features that a regular user will need to accomplish all of their daily activities. This is not a powerhouse computer that will be able to meet any heavy gaming needs, but it will sufficiently multitask your Web browsers, email and Microsoft Office programs, while allowing you to enjoy Windows 8 on a brand new computer.
It features the classic Dell laptop design that has been their signature for several years, with a sturdy, well-built chassis and an comfortable chiclet-style keyboard.

This is a good choice for someone that wants a well-built affordable laptop that runs Windows 8. But the processor in this laptop is very slow, and the integrated graphics are old. You will not be able to play a lot of newer games or do a lot of video editing with this computer. But if you just want a computer for around the house to check email, browse the Web, watch movies from Netflix and connect your USB devices, then this is the computer for you.

Dell Inspiron i15N-3091BK Performance
Performance-wise, this computer is really lacking in a lot of key areas. The processor is very slow, and is inferior to other options from Intel, such as the i3, i5 and i7. The integrated graphics are also from an older generation, and the hard drive is only 5400 RPM. But if these are not features that immediately dissuade you from purchasing this machine, then it is probably a good choice for you. This computer can easily run Web browsers (like Internet Explorer, Firefox or Chrome) and Office programs at the same time, and the streamlined performance of Windows 8 really helps to keep unnecessary stress of the processor. The 4 GB of RAM is comparable to what you will find among other options at this price point, though it is more than adequate for basic usage.
Dell Inspiron i15N-3091BK Portability
The portability of this computer is actually very good, as it weighs in at under 6 lbs, and has a respectable 4 hour battery life. You have Bluetooth, WiFi, USB and HDMI connectivity, which makes it possible for you to connect to any device, display or network that you should encounter. For this reason, this is a good option for someone that needs an affordable laptop for work so that they can check email and the Internet while traveling, while still being able to work on spreadsheets and documents.
If you do not need your computer to be able to run a lot of expensive, fancy programs and you are more concerned with finding the most affordable Windows 8 laptop around, then I would recommend this laptop. But if you want to play games, install programs like Photoshop or AutoCAD, or use this as a media server in your home, then this is not a good choice.
Students in liberal arts majors or other disciplines that only need to use Microsoft Office programs will benefit from this laptop because of its’ portability and low price. I would also recommend this computer for people that rarely use a computer outside of basic Internet and email activities, or for people that aren’t concerned about how their laptop will integrate with other electronics in their home, such as Apple TV or other playback devices that stream content directly from your computer’s hard drive.
This is a basic, low-priced solution for someone that doesn’t need to use a computer very often and is just looking for an affordable, entry-level option.
