The more you read about the Windows 8 operating system, the more you start to realize that it is a radical departure from the Windows operating systems that you have come to know over the past couple of decades. So if you are not willing to learn a new operating system and are looking for a fast thin computer that runs the more familiar Windows 7, then you might be better served by checking out a computer like the Vizio Thin and Light Ultrabook. It’s cheaper than this touch screen model and has most of the features that many people look for in a laptop.
But if you are willing to put in the small amount of time that is needed to familiarize yourself with a different way to use your computer, then there is a lot to like about this Acer that is running Windows 8.

This laptop is an excellent choice for the early technology adopter that likes to have the most current gadgets at their disposal. This is among the most affordable touch screen computers that you will find which, as Windows 8 gains a little more traction, is going to be something that becomes a bigger deal as people see what this operating system is capable of, and how it is meant to be used. The new Windows 8 Metro interface has been designed with tablet and touch screen users in mind, and you will find that a lot of things are much easier to do on this computer because you have the touch interface available to you.
My favorite thing about this computer, aside from its’ touch screen, is that Acer has included a fast, current processor. So this laptop is not something that you will be using as a novelty for a while, then upgrading. This computer is going to last you for a while as you become more comfortable with Windows 8, and all of your friends and colleagues will still be learning how to use their Windows 8 machines while you have become an expert.
This is one of the best touch screen Windows 8 models available at launch, and Acer has done a good job choosing the components that they have included. It has the right combination of power and portability for the user that is on the go, but still needs to be able to use more resource-intensive programs like Photoshop or AutoCAD. And while this would not be my first choice if I was planning to do some heavy gaming, this computer will be able to handle less graphically-intense games like Diablo 3 or World of Warcraft. All things considered, you are making a good choice if you decide to purchase this computer as your gateway to the Windows 8 touch screen world.
