Acer Aspire E1-571-6650 15.6-Inch Laptop (Black) Review

A budget laptop needs to have a couple of different characteristics in order for it to be something that is beneficial to those individuals that are in the market for one. Above all, the components need to present a clear value for the price that is being charged. This means that the manufacturer needs to take care to include items that will provide a strong performance and portability experience, while still maintaining a low price point. A budget laptop also needs to be well-built and feature components that will last for several years.

You lose a lot of the benefit of buying a budget laptop if you need to replace it twice as often as you would replace a slightly more expensive machine. Fortunately theĀ Acer Aspire E1-571-6650 is both well-built and includes quality parts, which makes it a computer that is certainly worthy of your interest.

One of my favorite parts about most new computers is the fact that they include Microsoft Office Starter 2010. This software features non-trial, ad-supported versions of Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word. Since many people use these programs and would otherwise be purchasing the software, this can mean a pretty significant savings. Note, however, that you will need to purchase Microsoft Office Home or Microsoft Office Business if you need additional programs like Powerpoint or Outlook. The inclusion of the full numeric keypad on this computer also makes it a good choice for people that need to do a lot of numerical data entry.

I like this laptop because of the value it offers at this price point. When you are looking at other laptops that are under the $500 price, you are not going to find a lot of options that include Intel i3 processors. This is an excellent processor that is able to multitask with some pretty demanding applications, such as Adobe Photoshop. And the fact that you can also manually upgrade this computer to 8 GB of RAM means that you will have options to improve the performance if you decide that it is necessary. And while the integrated graphics aren’t meant for serious gaming, you will still be able to play some newer games on lower settings without a problem.

Most of the new computers that you find are going to include some software or trial versions of software that you do not need, or will never use. You can follow the instructions in this article to learn where to go in Windows 7 and how to uninstall the programs that you do not wish to keep on your new computer. That article is about uninstalling a specific program, but the method is the same for any other installed program.

If you want to spend a little more money to get a computer with some components that are more focused on performance, check out our review of the Acer Aspire V5-571-6869. It has an i5 processor, 6 GB of RAM and a longer battery life, all for approximately $100 more.
