How to Restrict Editing in Word 2013

After you create a document and need to share it with people at work or school, you may find that people make changes to this document that can be problematic.

A default document in Word 2013 is editable by anyone that can open the file, but that ability to edit might be something that you occasionally want to restrict.

Fortunately, Word 2013 has a Restrict Editing button that allows you to protect the document with a password so that it cannot be edited by anyone without the password.

They can still view the document as they normally would, but the content contained within the document cannot be modified.
