How to Turn Off Auto-Capitalization on the iPad 2

Apple is very focused on making their products as easy to use as possible, and this ideal causes them to add features that are meant to improve your experience with their devices. One of these features is auto-capitalization, which will automatically capitalize the first letter is a word that you type, or the first letter right after a period, question mark or exclamation point. This is helpful when you are typing an email or a document, but can be a little frustrating when you are attempting to enter a case-sensitive username on a website. Luckily you can turn off the auto-capitalization feature on the iPad 2.

Stop the iPad from Automatically Capitalizing Words

I don’t personally write a lot of emails or lengthy documents on my iPad. I use it more for Web surfing and watching Netflix, so the auto-capitalization is more of a hindrance than a help. So I find the ability to disable auto-capitalization very helpful. You can follow the steps below to stop this function on your iPad.

Step 1: Tap the Settings icon.

open the iPad settings menu

Step 2: Select the General option in the column at the left side of the screen.

open the iPad general menu

Step 3: Scroll to the bottom of the right column, then select the Keyboard option.

select the keyboard option at the bottom of the menu

Step 4: Move the slider to the right of Auto-Capitalization to the Off position.
