How to Remove the Windows Media Player Icon from the Taskbar


The taskbar at the bottom of your screen in Windows 7 is a great place to put links to programs, because it is always visible. The default Windows 7 installation comes with a couple of icons in the taskbar by default, including Internet Explorer, Windows Explorer and Windows Media Player. But as you start adding links to other programs to the taskbar, you may find that the links are extending too far on the taskbar, or that you are accidentally clicking icons that you didn’t mean to open. So if you don’t use Windows Media Player and you want to remove the icon from the taskbar, you can do so easily by following the steps below.

Step 1: Locate the program icon that you want to remove. If you don’t recognize the icon, you can hover your mouse over it for a few seconds until some preview text is visible.
