How to Display the Menu Bar in Firefox

All of the major Web browsers seem to be moving in a minimalist direction regarding the amount of information that is displayed at the top of the window. Most users want their browser to be fast over any other metric, and this often comes at the expense of a reduced top display and a limited amount of toolbars. The default Firefox display no longer includes a menu bar, which is the list of links at the top of the window like File, Edit and View. The inclusion of this menu bar will decrease the amount of Web content that you see on your screen, which many users seem to think detracts from the browsing experience. But you can learn how to display the menu bar in Firefox if you prefer to navigate your Firefox settings that way.

Firefox’s new navigation structure revolves around an orange tab at the top-left corner of the window. This gives you a central location for all of the settings that you might want to change or update, while minimizing the amount of screen real estate that is taken up by static navigation. But you can also set up Firefox to display the standard menu bar that you might be more comfortable with as a long time Firefox user.

Step 1: Launch a Firefox browsing session.

Step 2: Click the orange Firefox tab at the top-left corner of the window.

open the firefox menu

Step 3: Click Options at the left side of the menu, then click the Menu Bar option.
